Gotta Love how the Title says Saturday Morning Scrublords when it’s friday. 😀
Keep on scrubing you guys.

That’s the joke. Friday Night Fisticuffs generally gives the indication that the fighting game that they’re playing is pretty good. Saturday Morning Scrublords tends to lean to the opposite side of the spectrum in which the game they’re playing isn’t well received or memorable.

The issue with “why wouldn’t you just play Virtua Fighter?” at the time is, remember – you would have had to have owned a Sega Saturn instead of a PSX.

You’d be playing Tekken, because only boring nerds, Sega diehards and James Mielke play Virtua Fighter.
I like and liked Tobal just fine. Even now I don’t see the problem. 15 minutes of “it’s bad guys. It’s so bad. You see how bad it is? It’s bad.” Let’s also unironically hype up an MK game. Yeah, I don’t get it. The grapple system is solid and it already included a lot of counters and reversals that Tekken didn’t even have until 2.
Although that quest mode is terrible. No defense for that. What’s worse is that they locked the ability to play bosses behind that, too. In the long run it’ s not bad, because they are utterly broken.

Liam: “I forgot MKX”
Matt: “YOU FORGOT MKX!?”

Fuck you Pat, Toblerone are fucking perfection in triangular chocolate-nougat-almond-honey form.

I thought for half a video that they’re talking about Lighting Returns Toriyama, but then I realized that it’s probably other guy with the same name, so I can assume he made Dragon Ball. I thought FF13 and DBZ were made by the same gut for hilarious 15 minutes.

Guys? Guys. You accidentally ran the intro for Scrublords on Tobal No. 1. I KNOW you didn’t forget how hype the fighting is and call it Scrublords just because of the tacked-on quest mode. Because, heh heh, in certain circles, such insolence against the Tobal combat system warrants the unleashing of curses. Or so I’ve read.
Wow, if the Zaibatsu wants to compare this to VF 1, they need to go back and play that game again. With its button masher combos, it was a lot more experimental and scrubby than Tobal No. 1, which featured much more strategic movement and an amazing throw system. They didn’t get anywhere near how hype the fighting can be in this game. The quest mode? Yeah, it’s an afterthought, but you play the game for the fighting, not for that.
Now VF 2 is where VF really started to shine. I’m not going to sit here and argue against that game. VF 2 was amazing.
I really wish I could’ve played Tobal No. 2. One of these days…
