Pat I seriously feel for you. I went over to a friend’s house and watched it, and that shit has stayed with me for years. I couldnt even go swimming with friends out of fear of those stupid drains in pools. steven king stole my balls.

what a complicated genre. no-wonder why It felt like a part time job to play soul 5 there is soo much backstory and home work and … EFFORT you have to put into the game or your going to be a scrub for life. how can you guys dredge up the energy to actually strategieszand learn things about fighting games when you can just lame out game experiences from the halo saga.
September 12, 2014 at 9:56 pm
Exactly because of that though, other competitive games that let you lame it out and such don’t feel as good.
Personally, I feel that fighting games are incredibly more rewarding than other genres, because there’s no builds, no shenanigans, nothing like that; when it comes down to it, it’s just you and someone else, fighting until one gets knocked out. When you actually win matches online? It just feels so, so good. You put your hours of training and movement/combo learning into practice and you overcame someone who had the same amount of training–if not more than you.
Fighting games are just the best, man. Just the best.
September 12, 2014 at 10:10 pm
Meh. I still don’t see the appeal. Sounds like too much work for a small amount of thrill. Maybe it’s just because I’m not really competitive. I prefer the story modes to the vs modes.
September 12, 2014 at 11:29 pm
You’re right in which it is a lot of work to get past the scrub level—I’m still a major scrub, but that doesn’t stop the fun! Besides, playing just to chill out with friends is also very entertaining, or so I find at least.
You don’t really have to play them competitively though, the story alone in most fighting games are so fun (and/or dumb) that you won’t feel the need to treat the genre as a unique gem, indeed. That’s just how I feel though, I love fighting games and the competition within them.

Holy shit Matt out in WORK
September 13, 2014 at 2:07 am
Hey Pat, I watched IT as a little kid, too. The easiest way to get over it is to realize that the clown was played by TIM CURRY.
Watch him in Clue or Muppet Treasure Island and you’ll get over IT. Maybe not clowns, but IT for sure.

Please replace the singing robot ad.
September 13, 2014 at 5:27 am
Man I always wanted to play this game back then, never got the chance. Looks awesome 😀
September 13, 2014 at 6:40 am
Well Pat, I saw It when I was a child too and I’m not affraid of clowns. I AM a huge pussy when it comes to horror and I can’t even talk about that movie without looking over my sholder though. For years I would go around the house and close all doors because I was afraid something might come out from the dark… That shit will scar you for life. I don’t love clowns though, just don’t hate them either.

All the moments have been leading to this.
I’ve been wanting to see these guys play CvS2 since Fisticuffs first aired, and I’m not disappointed. What a game, and thanks guys!
BTW Pat, I tweeted a pic of Goro Daimon in CvS2 at you; you can’t play as him, but under the right conditions he cameos in the background. I did it on the Nairobi stage, Kyo vs Benimaru (Japan Team!!!).

Rewatching old videos, and I remember back in the day I had one of those “demo discs” for the Xbox and the CvS2 demo was just the WHOLE game, minus Xbox Live. Someone fucked up super hard.
