Woolie and Liam would have needed 17 quarters each. If the machine only took a single quarter for each continue, it would have cost them a total of $8.50 (Including the starting quarters).
That’s not so bad for playing an arcade game from start to finish.

Ah, HST -401: WWII According to Metal Slug. The key to Allied victory was a two-man unit of infinitely respawning soldiers, protected briefly in each new life by the technological marvel of the I-frame Field. The Axis, meanwhile, basically bolted things onto other things until all they had was a giant gestalt of steel and stupid. Also, the Axis had attack helicopters, which would’ve been more impressive if the Allies hadn’t conquered DEATH ITSELF.
Professors Woolie and Liam taught the course for several years, until it was discovered that neither of them had any teaching credentials, and a savvy new hire at the registrar’s office pointed out that course numbers can’t actually run into negatives.

Wow, I guess that game…I can’t remember the name of it, but it was the one Pat stared at, it really did take inspiration from this.
