Tying up loose ends in Brume tower, fighting our clones, yknow, that sort of thing.

nbd, fighting muh clone.
October 28, 2014 at 4:03 pm
Oh I am just loving watching Woolie slowly hate everything. I’m hard.
October 28, 2014 at 4:21 pm
I actually think the boss they’re going to now is harder than the one they passed up. The area’s harder though. But you can sprint through it so…yeah. The boss is also the most disapointing one out of all the DLC bosses IMO.

It took me a WHILE to get Sir Alonne down. His hitbox for his buff attck: the pierce and lift is BULLSHIT if you roll left (which is my natural inclination). Seriously, it hits you when you’re BESIDE him and then the lifting animation literally drags you back to his front. It’s real bad looking. But it is easily avoidable if you roll right. Figuring that out was like predicting the twist in an Metal Gear game. It felt so good.
October 29, 2014 at 2:36 pm
Delay the roll as much as you can, having 32 adp also helps. And the most disapointing boss is Smelty II.
October 28, 2014 at 5:19 pm
The hate boner for this area is growing stronger still. Not really sure why though? Is it the because the area is kinda tough?, the fact that there are actually multiple paths you have to investigate, is it the Redbull? I’d understand if they’d found Salt Demon 2.0 but they’re not even there yet.
October 29, 2014 at 3:21 am
It’s groing cuz Woolie STILL fails half the time while fighting and that tends to lead into a death, and “dying cuz you fucked up” doesn’t seem to be his thing.
October 28, 2014 at 5:21 pm
Dude, wtf. That cursed area near the foyer bonfire? When I went there, ALL of those soldiers and stuff covered in ash were immortal until I shut down that ashen idol/Nadalia. They literally behaved the way skeletons do when there’s a necromancer around; they’d die, not drop souls, then come back a couple seconds later. And yet Woolie’s killing them all no prob in this video. What the actual fuck? lol
November 6, 2014 at 9:57 pm
I think you’re right! I was thinking the same thing at that part: “Hey, weren’t those skeletons immortal?” It’s like they patched the game just for Woolie. I wish he could’ve experienced that area, and Maldron’s tower, the way I did…

The flaming shoulder enemies were because they wanted a humanoid enemy that you couldn’t fight by just strafing around it so it shoots lava alternating on each side.
October 28, 2014 at 9:36 pm
They still failed that in my books.
October 28, 2014 at 6:15 pm
Wanna see how Woolie fairs up with iron passage, the area is a pain in the ass!
October 28, 2014 at 6:29 pm
I rather liked this DLC overall. The side towers with the invader and exploding lard-asses are indeed bullshit, But I really like the main tower with intricate elevators and looping side passages. Also, those big mother fuckers with the lava pauldrons aren’t completely terrible. The left and right pauldrons alternatively spew lava at regularly timed intervals. The trick is noticing that pattern (which you scrubs failed to do, git gud already). However, this doesn’t take away from the fact that the enemy would be better without the lava. They actually remind me of the stone soldiers with Tranquil Walk of Peace from DaS1.

Did Woolie ever reequip the Ring of Blades after he took it off?
October 28, 2014 at 6:52 pm
The salt continues. Heading towards peak misty eye.
October 28, 2014 at 9:29 pm
This is becoming difficult to watch. I’m disappointed in Dark Souls 2 as much as anyone who’s been a fan since Demon’s Souls, but they’re ragging on it super hard when most of their grievances come from not paying attention and figuring out new game mechanics (i.e. the always alternating left/right fire bursts from the large golem enemies, or the fact that the little explosive barrel men should be guided towards other enemies for easy explosive kills instead of killed outright as trash mobs).
I really thought this DLC in particular was quite good because of these kinds of thoughtful additions. Of course the “challenge area” boss was a bit lame, and that area specifically is super difficult (it is a challenge area, after all, designed for co-op), I thought the interconnected level design and neat new mechanics (ashen idols, curse areas with Hollow Skin hidden nearbye, etc.) were super interesting and fun.
November 15, 2014 at 12:23 pm
The “not paying attention” part is extremely evident all too often. In the last video, they killed themselves for an item in the fire thing, and then neither of them even took the slightest glance to see what item they got. And that’s an obvious thing that you know is coming up. Even having watched this whole series (to this point), I don’t understand how they made it this far.
October 28, 2014 at 10:08 pm
Simpleton’s Ring is only good because it gives you 5 ADP as well as the useless animation.
The roll animation even feels longer to me.
…You do know four swings is completely possible…right? I can get five with certain weapons.
And you can definitely only get out two two-handed R1’s in the time it takes to get a two-handed R2, Pat. C’mon. C’MON.
All-in-all, I’m lovin’ the Salt Train, Woolie (/sarcasm)
Seriously, simmer down. You’re in NG. It isn’t even that difficult.
You’ve been through the entire base game, these areas are largely no different, save the difficultly spiked up a bit at most.
Can’t wait to see how the fight with Raime, the Salt Knight went down (and how many times it went down).
October 28, 2014 at 11:18 pm
Message says “left arm?” so Woolie hits its right arm then fucks off. I don’t know if there actually was anything there but that moment encapsulates Woolie’s play style pretty well.
October 29, 2014 at 12:05 am
I think it’s referring to the giant statue of the same idol in Iron Keep just before the Old Iron King boss. In that statue, the right arm is missing entirely, so only the left one is seen gripping one of the building’s spires.
October 28, 2014 at 11:25 pm
Starting to get real salty Woolie
November 15, 2014 at 12:24 pm
Starting? I thought that was like 30 parts ago.
October 29, 2014 at 1:09 am
Didn’t need the hammer, was playing Bayo while watching this. Helps a ton….no offense guys.
October 29, 2014 at 1:51 am
Message says left arm, Woolie swings at right arm. The Illiterate Pie Stealing Liar can’t tell left from right, need to find a way to add that to his name. Also this whole DLC is fine, woolie just doesn’t like it cus he is bad and getting salty.
October 29, 2014 at 2:47 pm
That ring also gives you 5 adp. I’m baffled they didn’t use hollowed helmet that gives curse inmunity. The predator gang counts as 1 invader, but if you kill one of them it won’t spawn agin until ng+ or burning the item, so no easy farming from them.
Kage bunshin no jutsu!
November 6, 2014 at 10:14 pm
I’m sure Pat is referencing the Fume Ultra Greatsword. Here’s what I don’t get:
The R1 attacks start vertical. Isn’t this why Pat keeps telling Woolie the Greatsword is so good? Because it has horizontal swings? The R2 attack is vertical as well. Is he saying it’s so good because you can block and counter? He’s exchanging his precious horizontal swings for this. If they weren’t important to him, then why object to Woolie two-handing the Greatsword?
I haven’t watched the next part yet, granted, but…

“This area sucks, man. That’s the thing.”
Jesus, Woolie, TONS of people have beaten the DLC. If it was the area being unfair, they wouldn’t have. Take some time, be patient, observe everything. Raging just because you keep missing things in your haste only compounds the issue.
The fact that fighting games, where action is pretty constant and split-second decisions are necessary, are his favorite, and what he has played most/longest, does NOT help him. I have seen it come back to hurt him in numerous LPs, like in Metroid, when Liam needed to step in and (quite literally) save the playthrough.
January 21, 2015 at 7:45 pm
I observe the opposite happening: his reflexes and decisions are so delayed it kills him on a constant basis. It might just be that someone is SCREAMING in his ear the entire game and second guessing him during fights.
August 27, 2015 at 3:47 pm
