Bearer of Inebriation…
Seek drinks. Larger, more powerful drinks.
Seek the Party King, that is the only way.
Lest this Hangover swallow you whole… as it has so many others.

Drunk Souls: The Drunkining Backdown from Drunkenness
September 15, 2014 at 9:33 pm
Woolie the drunken master.
September 15, 2014 at 9:35 pm
Is anyone else having major problems with the JW player thing? It just gives me these four grey boxes in the corner of the player screen and I can do nothing about it. :/ I just changed my resolution and everything got fucked.
September 15, 2014 at 9:55 pm
Yeah, it’s super bizarre on my laptop’s resolution. I have to hold Ctrl and press + or – to zoom in/out to get it right so the volume and progress bar are both visible.
September 15, 2014 at 10:00 pm
Every once in a while when I fullscreen it or un-fullscreen it the video will go black but the audio will keep going and the only way to fix it is to refresh.
September 15, 2014 at 9:36 pm
Been waiting on this for a while since I got out of class.
September 15, 2014 at 9:38 pm
Woolsworth 3.0 = Hype Badass
You’re doin’ it!!!!
September 15, 2014 at 9:46 pm
This is the story, of a man who forsook his gods, found strength within to wield the mighty Greatsword and then got stupid drunk on Sangria and fucked everything up….Perfect
September 15, 2014 at 9:53 pm
Glad you guys didn’t keep planning to use Caitha’s for a faith build… It’s a hex-only chime. lol
Two-Handing is good if you go for an attack or two, then switch back for the shield.
Also, Woolie, when you two-hand and do a run attack with the greatsword, it launches (most) enemies into the air. Same with the backstep-attack, I think. IIRC, it’s kind of like a faster, two-handed R2.

Hurrah for ladder!

“The Defender Greatshield is the best shield — to my knowledge.” ~ Pat
Well for starters it’s not a greatshield but a normal shield, statwise the best shield is Havel’s Greatshield, heavy as fuck and requires 45 STR. Best normal shield being a fully upgraded Drakekeeper’s Shield. Although Defender’s shield is pretty awesome, I always liked the King’s Shield too. Rebel’s Greatshield has 70 physical, 85 dark and 90 everything else, at +10 it doesn’t get 100 in anything unless you infuse it (Excluding Physical) at the cost of slightly lowering everything else. It also looks pretty badass.
September 15, 2014 at 10:11 pm
Oh man, Pat got the equip-load and rolling mechanics right! Even he knows what he means, now! PERFECT!
September 15, 2014 at 10:13 pm
Woot!! TWO DS videos! Nice!!
September 15, 2014 at 10:19 pm
It’s just the Defender Shield. It’s basically an upgrade to the Drangleic Shield.
September 15, 2014 at 10:26 pm
Guys, your arguements against two handing that sword are valid, but woolie has to suck it up. Git. Gud. You’ve been using that thing for how many parts now? As for desiring a shield, that’s fine, if you used it better. I’ll give you break cause hungover, but woolies been using a shield the entire playthru. Proficientcy is expected.
you guys need to do a session where your both just completely shitfaced.
September 15, 2014 at 11:04 pm
FIX THE SKYBOX PAT!!!
September 15, 2014 at 11:24 pm
Woolie drank a whole box of sangria and got hungover? Weeeeeak!
September 15, 2014 at 11:27 pm
I like how this has gone for 41 episodes and it doesn’t feel like it’s dragging. <3 I can't afford the game right now, so am living vicariously through Woolsworth Sansei.
September 15, 2014 at 11:59 pm
I actually killed the Defender and Watcher right after I got the King’s Ring. I remembered the giant door, checked it out, killed them, and my friend called me an idiot for breaking the thematic order.

Drunk souls is the BEST SOULS!!!!
September 16, 2014 at 2:22 am
Pat, dude, learn the lore. It’s the Defender’s Shield, not greatshield. It is not a greatshield.
Woolie, 2 handing the greatsword is primarily for 1 on 1 engagements (unless you’re confident you can control space for multiple enemies with large vertical swings–it’s kind of situational), and involves masterful rolling. We think you can do it. That’s why we won’t let it go. 1 handing the greatsword is okay when you’re surrounded, or when you’re fighting an enemy that rolls around a lot. But when you’re trying to beat down 1 slow guy with no evasive capability, you have to have the wherewithal to know that you could be doing it faster by 2 handing.
Also, you really need to practice your aim. Try to learn to let the sword auto-target your enemy during lock-on (i.e. keep your thumb off the stick when you swing). When you start to get the hang of it, you can also practice swinging without locking on. You can actually hit enemies dead on without a lock on once you know how the overheads feel.
I keep saying this, but if you keep your mace equipped, you can have access to a moveset that compliments the greatsword moveset very well, and does strike damage on top of it. But now that you’ve got that greatshield, equipping your mace will make you fat roll.

Playing drunk is proven to increase skill. Don’t ask me to post my sources, just take my word for it.

I actually didn’t see the lever for the gate until NG+… ._.
The Defender Shield, not Greatshield (as many people have/will say) is most definitely NOT the best shield in the game. Drakekeeper’s Shield is probably the best medium shield in the game, in my opinion. I used King’s Shield for a long while, and it is probably the third-best, having 100% Physical Damage Reduction and something like 85 Fire Damage Reduction and 63 Stability at +5.
The only thing Defender’s does better than Drakekeeper’s is the obvious Stability (68 at +5, compared to Drakekeeper’s 63 at +10). Dark Drakekeeper’s Shield +10 is also considered the best shield in the game, with 98.2 Physical Damage Reduction while boasting 72.0 for Magic, Fire, and Lightning Damage Reductions, and 72.5 in Dark Damage Reduction. LEARN YOUR SHIT, PAT (/sarcasm)
Also, take a look at the Dragonrider’s GShield as you walk or run. Take a good look, and watch it PHASE THROUGH THE FUCKING GROUND. *sigh* From B…
September 16, 2014 at 10:15 am
Oops, guess I was thinking about the shields too much…
I actually didn’t see the lever for the gate until NG++ *

I’m not sure if you know this, Pat, but Caitha’s Chime can only be used to cast Hexes.

The Defender Shield is NOT A FUCKING GREATSHIELD.
