September 9, 2014 at 9:31 pm
It’s fine Pat, don’t bother trying to stop. It’s part of the lore now, know what I mean?
September 9, 2014 at 9:33 pm
Santier’s Spear is the most radical shit ever made. Once you break it it won’t repair itself and also never breaks. It also has the most amazing moveset in this game. That shit is god-tier awesome.
September 9, 2014 at 9:34 pm
There needs to be one habit you guys should really be getting into. Anytime you use souls to upgrade or level or buy shit, if you ever have stuff left over, just drop the rest on Life Gems. Seriously, it’ll be so nice to always have life gems. And the standard ones are only ever not super useful when you get to like SL 200
September 9, 2014 at 9:35 pm
Oh geez, RRV. I remember at release he was bugged out and would 100% petrify you in a single hit. That was some bullshit.
September 9, 2014 at 11:53 pm
Someone should make a SNL style scrolling screen of corrections to Pat’s Dark Souls comments.
September 9, 2014 at 11:55 pm
One of these days I’ll figure out how to leave comments.
September 9, 2014 at 9:46 pm
Pat “the guru” bolvin.
Knows everything there is to know about dark souls.
Except how to aim with a crossbow
Or the the rat vanguard vomit is triggered by health, or that you don’t need 3 pharos lockstones to get the spear,
On second thought you know nothing pat bolvin
September 9, 2014 at 9:52 pm
YOU JUST GOTTA OPEN THE FUCKIN BOTTOM ONE. HOW CAN YOU NOT KNOW THAT.

Or that the skull model behind the Rat King isn’t in fact the same one that’s in the Ash Lake and is instead one that’s in the Tomb of the Giants and is all over the place.
September 9, 2014 at 9:51 pm
Pat is Woolie nagging waifu
September 9, 2014 at 9:55 pm
On my first and NG+ strength build play through with the great sword I was able to kill all the small rats in the Vanguard with one swing. I’m surprised pat and Woolie didn’t try just running ahead and swinging.
September 9, 2014 at 10:01 pm
I lost my shit with that persona joke.
September 9, 2014 at 10:26 pm
I don’t know the names of the voice actors off the top of my head, but the Rat King’s voice is one of my favorites in the game, right up there with Straid.
Good job with the Royal Rat Authority. I had a hard time with him the first time because I couldn’t get it in my thick head to go under him. I was rockin’ Havel’s Greatshield and insisted on blocking everything he threw at me, which made the fight 100x harder.
September 9, 2014 at 10:43 pm
the time has come and so have I.
September 9, 2014 at 10:50 pm
Are they at all close to beating this game?
September 10, 2014 at 8:40 am
Not really, no.
September 9, 2014 at 10:59 pm
I remember trying to kill the RRA while in the Covenant of Champions. Shit was not fun.
September 9, 2014 at 11:08 pm
Also Pat, the Defender Shield isn’t a greatshield; it’s a normal shield (which is great, because that means it’s light).
AND you can buy Iron Bolts from McDuff.
September 9, 2014 at 11:17 pm
Pursuring my true Rat self!
September 9, 2014 at 11:22 pm
Oh good. I’ve been waiting for them to reach the rats.
September 9, 2014 at 11:24 pm
Welcome to the Best Covenant, Woolie! Now burn a couple dozen Bonfire Ascetics, put on your filthiest diseased rags, and get out there and earn some stones!
September 10, 2014 at 12:31 am
Fuck the rat AUthority!
September 10, 2014 at 12:56 am
I’m just 47 soul level in Demon’s Souls.. wanted to get into this series the right way. There’s already been so much of that falling from beam to beam heh.. It’s really good! if anyone hasn’t gone back to that first game- they should!
September 10, 2014 at 1:55 am
I never got invaded here either but I have always been summoned as a gray phantom for no reason
September 10, 2014 at 2:00 am
Oh the ring summons others I am retarded, I never used it before
September 10, 2014 at 1:59 am
Just another reason you are my favorite Pat 😀 I love littering too, the earth is fucked.
September 10, 2014 at 2:46 am
I don’t mind the Vanguard fight because that’s its whole premise; fighting off a horde of rats.
Having an actual boss PLUS lesser enemies to screw you over is waaaay more annoying than an encounter with only lesser enemies.
I give them props for making the Authority jump around a lot so that you can’t just sit under him and wail on him and the charge attack to punish as you trying to reposition yourself again but they really should have taken the high road and given him more tech than just 4 extra toxic/petrify rats.
September 10, 2014 at 3:05 am
I can see Woolie is getting bettah :p
September 10, 2014 at 3:22 am
Know what I mean Pat, learns what he means, if you think about it thats some deep shit.
September 10, 2014 at 8:37 am
Worst trick I’ve fell for (HAH, puns) was the “Press B on ladder to initiate DIE Mode”. Pretty sure you could just hold B to do the ladder downward sliding in Dark I, right? I forget.
Also, Royal Rat Vanguard is one of my favourite bosses. Not because of the actual fight, but because of how impossible it would be to make the fight enjoyable and challenging. The way it is right now? Too easy. Just kill a couple rats, run around, heal if necessary, Vanguard spawns in, kill him in like 5-6 hits. If it had a bunch of super rats with high HP that deal a metric shit-ton of damage as adds instead? People would probably complain, it’d get nerf’d and probably become what it is now anyway. There’s no real middle ground for it either. Either too easy or too “hard”, which is really unfortunate.
And they didn’t make RR Authority “too hard”, they just put the bonfire there because they know most players are going to probably die a lot, and because there’s literally nowhere else to put a bonfire in the Door of Pharros (after the Gyrm’s Respite bonfire). Any shield can fully block the charge attack (provided it’s has 100% Physical Damage Reduction), though it will still stagger you (Gyrm Greatshield +10 with 146 Stamina on my SL 258 character and it’s a full Stamina-draining attack). It’s literally supposed to be a fight akin to the one with the Great Grey Wolf Sif. But no one cares about giant ratdog boss. Fuck that thing.
Oh, and Straid’s not that cool. If he’s such a good sorcerer, why’d he let himself get petrified?
September 10, 2014 at 10:05 am
Shadow Pat: “I am the shadow, the true self. Do you see what I mean?”
Pat: “NOOO, PERSONA!”
September 10, 2014 at 1:04 pm
All Pat seems to do is bitch and moan about how DS2 isn’t as good and is just bad. Why’d he agree to play it if he has so many problems with it?
September 10, 2014 at 2:49 pm
If you uploaded 3 of these every day it would still be my current favorite thing on the internet.
September 10, 2014 at 3:56 pm

September 10, 2014 at 4:33 pm
shield dropping intensifies
September 10, 2014 at 8:02 pm
There is a chest with a twinkling titanite and faintstone in the Doors of Pharros, I find definitely worth the lockstone besides that meh. Also I don’t believe they put the bonfire right outside of Authority because he’s a tough boss fight but because it would be complete bullsh*t to have to make the run to him and probably be summoned as a gray spirit every time.
September 10, 2014 at 9:39 pm
Okay, why does Woolie just actually keep missing swings? Is he hitting the button wrong, or is the game just like that? Cause I’d like to believe that he’s not an idiot, but it just gets harder.
September 11, 2014 at 7:02 am
Because Dark Souls 2 has this odd mechanic where swinging a large weapon while pressing a direction will cause you to swing in that direction whether you lock on or not.
September 11, 2014 at 2:05 am
I don’t notice “See what I mean” so much as I notice Pat saying everything is “Godlike” all the time.
September 11, 2014 at 12:13 pm
JUST LET THEM ALL SWARM YOU AND KILL THEM ALL AT ONCE!!!! JESUS!
September 11, 2014 at 12:27 pm
WHY WOULD YOU USE THE FUCKING CROSSBOW AT POINT BLANK RANGE!?!?! I am going Pat on you since Pat is not. YOU SEE WHAT I MEAN!?
September 11, 2014 at 12:36 pm
30:15 That Kill La Kill reference though…. AMAZING ANIME!
