AND SO BEGINS THE SMELTER DANCE
August 28, 2014 at 9:00 pm
Smelter gonna get dat booty.
August 28, 2014 at 9:03 pm
gawd i hope plague gets them eventually.
August 29, 2014 at 2:28 pm
Yeah and beats them with his fists .
August 28, 2014 at 9:14 pm
I kinda hope Plague does inevitably find you guys but then Woolie beats him. I want to see the salty Eli.
August 28, 2014 at 9:44 pm
well he got defeated by a DarkSydePhill (probably a fake one, he didn’t spammed any projectile) so i wouldn’t be surprised if Woolie can defeat Plague
August 28, 2014 at 9:54 pm
He can’t beat a plague who’s on the ball, you see plague is better, but his computer is shit and he’s practicing in his videos. If plague gets back into the dark soul’s groove, Woolie might just have to give the controller to Pat for the fight.
August 28, 2014 at 9:16 pm
Grab that big sword with two hands, Woolie. Feel the REAL damage.
August 28, 2014 at 9:27 pm
this may be my favorite episode of the playthrough so far
August 28, 2014 at 9:29 pm
The salt is real
August 28, 2014 at 9:30 pm
Mmm … pourin’ that salt onto my food.
August 28, 2014 at 9:31 pm
I am going to be “that guy” mundane is actually a very upgrade for a jack of all trades build. weapons with little to no scaling tend to do very high damage when mundane. Most notable being the avelyn and Santier’s Spear. One of my characters is 20 in all stats and 40 in str and dex. It’s a lot of fun to be able to use most everything in the game on a whim.
August 28, 2014 at 10:18 pm
I was going to say the same thing. Mundane can seem really weak if you are using the wrong weapons (such as if you were using a greatsword on a dex build, or a rapier on a str build), but if you have good mundane weapons it can wreck face.
August 28, 2014 at 9:32 pm
Woolie’s dandruff salt
August 28, 2014 at 9:36 pm
Woolie, put the shield away! You’re going to get yourself killed!
August 28, 2014 at 9:38 pm
Fuck Pat, just do things your way Woolie.
Either way one of you will be a big baby.
August 28, 2014 at 9:42 pm
Its good to see Wollie go from SHIT back to good again. Like thats my favorite part of Dark Souls. Watching people get super good then get stomped then get super shit because they’re pissed to then CALM BACK DOWN get good again!
Fuckin love this LP guys.
August 28, 2014 at 9:47 pm
Shit is getting pretty awkward.
August 28, 2014 at 9:50 pm
Woolie spills a lot of spaghetti in this episode. But I find it almost redeeming in a way.
August 28, 2014 at 9:57 pm
You got to be kidding me. Pat is just being a huge dick.
August 29, 2014 at 1:16 am
Woolies gotta get gud or die trying. Seriously, if he doesn’t learn the game on his own, he’ll be getting destroyed much worse later on.
August 28, 2014 at 9:58 pm
Did Pat telling Woolie why he can’t block the smelter when he has his sword on fire get cut or did he just never go into it? The reason you can’t block it 100% is that it is now doing fire damage on top of the already major amount of physical damage. So if you want to block the attacks in his second phase you will need a shield good a negating fire damage. He could also do other stuff like equip armor that has higher fire resistance, use flash sweat, wear flame quartz ring, use water, use orange burrs, and buff his weapon with aromatic ooze (sticky white stuff!!) or gold pine resin.
August 28, 2014 at 10:04 pm
TWO HAND THAT SHIT WOOLIE YES!
August 28, 2014 at 10:09 pm
Get a greatbow Woolie, or a longbow.
The thought of this LP going slower is killing me
August 28, 2014 at 10:21 pm
I’m beginning to think Pat’s “hand holding” really is affecting Woolie in a bad way. I haven’t played DS2 yet, but in DS1 if anything that is an overhead or thrust is comming at you, you roll to the side. I don’t see Woolie doing that here, he either tries to block them or he DOES try to roll but either the direction or timming is off. But don’t quote me on any of that. I’m not exactly the biggest Dark Souls expert.
August 28, 2014 at 10:38 pm
Pat is right that the tracking on enemies in DKS2 is ridiculous which makes it harder to dodge. It shows in one of the later smelter attempts in which Woolie is clear but the game registers the enemies hit on him still.
August 28, 2014 at 10:30 pm
Also mundane is for PvP. It’s good when all of your stats are straight 50
August 28, 2014 at 10:36 pm
As improbable as it is, I really want Plague and Woolie to have a climatic final battle at the end of their LP’s.
August 28, 2014 at 10:46 pm
Woolie did a ‘cool guy’ thing at the end!
August 28, 2014 at 10:52 pm
Fucking Smelter. What piece of shit. Just because it’s an optional boss doesn’t mean it has to suck. So annoyed it was put as the boss for the Iron Passage as well. Fuck that shit.
August 28, 2014 at 11:08 pm
I’m glad to see woolie get better and overall more comfortable with the greatsword, hopefully he will learn to give up the shield and just two hand it, which is actually alot easier than it sounds.
August 28, 2014 at 11:11 pm
Didn’t there used to be dudes in the room that Woolie was in when the video started?
August 29, 2014 at 2:55 pm
There’s a single captain in there in NG+, I think it mignt be phantom variant too
August 28, 2014 at 11:16 pm
Mundane is weird and is only good for certain builds. When you use Mundane, it halves your weapon’s damage, but gives it incredible scaling to your lowest stat, soft-capping at 20, where the bonus damage is about 200 or so. A lot of Hex builds use Mundane because the damage increase is more than Dark, and nothing is resistant to it. Weapons that deal very low amounts of damage are amazing for Mundane, especially daggers, since their damage is tiny, so they lose almost nothing in return for massive scaling buffs. A Mundane Shadow Dagger Riposte is also enough to kill just about anything in one hit, including massive tank characters in PvP with 2400+ health.
August 28, 2014 at 11:19 pm
Also, the hidden room with the Ballista- didn’t that also be a hidden wall? YOu had to find the three walls to do the BAllista trick?
The rage of the great and wild Woolie is slowly escalating, let his anger fuel him and his playthrough for the great ragening and controller grip genocide
August 28, 2014 at 11:35 pm
Should just two-hand it in this boss fight 😀
August 28, 2014 at 11:42 pm
Don’t tell Woolie not to talk to McDuff! After you spend 10k souls (reinforcing and infusing weapons not buying stuff) he will give you a titanite slab.
August 28, 2014 at 11:55 pm
I feel like i was swimming in the ocean and all the water just evaporated instantly cause my ears are FULL of SALT!
August 29, 2014 at 12:09 am
Honestly, I hate how rolling works in DS2, tying invulnerability frames to the new Agility stat is horrible (made worse by it scaling with 2 different stats: adaptability and attunment) and until Woolie gets his agility to at least 100 his rolling is going to be shit. I almost feel like Pat was trying to lead Woolie down the path I use which is saving Iron Keep for a little later in the game, maybe get a better shield for the fight, if you’ve played the game ya know the one I’m talking about, or come back at a higher soul level when his agility is higher. Also i found it really strange that after he popped an effigy off screen he didn’t decide to pull in any summons, like Woolie’s girl Lucatiel, but Pat was probably telling him that the reduced damage isn’t worth the time that the Smelter won’t be looking at Woolie during the fight or some shit.
August 29, 2014 at 1:03 am
The salt is real here, damn.
August 29, 2014 at 1:20 am
Love this one a day shit. Keep the train rolling guys!!!
August 29, 2014 at 2:44 am
Why doesn’t Woolie ever two-hand the Guts’ Sword(can’t remember it’s real name)?
It’s R1 attack seems really good for single enemies and narrow spaces, and it’s not like he NEEDS the shield for most encounters.
August 29, 2014 at 2:57 am
And the sword blocks 70% of physical damage, his armor will take care of most of the rest. He really does not need the shield with that sword.
August 29, 2014 at 2:53 am
Is Pat like this all the time, I wonder? He’s really unpleasant in this video. I think Woolies gonna have to choke a bitch.
August 29, 2014 at 3:41 am
Is this the session Woolie was so salty about on the podcast a few weeks ago? Sure sounds like it.
August 29, 2014 at 3:53 am
why is pat being a such a dick?
August 29, 2014 at 4:09 am
I can’t believe pat hasn’t told him to use his fire resist items/armor.
August 29, 2014 at 5:57 am
Pat, the two handed r2 it’s not as bad as you say, especially against this type of slow bosses. Just wait for the boss to do an attack that leavs him vulnerable, strike and go back defending. I defeated Vendrick using only that move.
August 29, 2014 at 6:08 am
So that obvious cut at about 15 minutes in – is that when Woolie punched Pat?
August 29, 2014 at 6:27 am
Woolie: Two-hand your weapon. If you can´t block an enemies attack or most his attacks – why do you still have your shield up? You´ll do more damage, you´ll attack and recover faster. And against smaller enemies, always two-hand it. You´ll stun them/knock them down and if you need to, you can block with your sword, even though it´s not a 100% physical block- which shouldn´t be a big deal against small fry. Also – if you an enemy you can probaly stun-lock/knockdown – do your jump attack and attack him right after your attack. The jump attack covers a lot of space and you´ll hit them, before they can act/move.
Pat, why aren´t you telling him that?
August 29, 2014 at 8:06 am
YES WOOLIE you almost reached the ultimate form of your greatsword build, 2hand it Woolie….2hand it with all your might!!!!
August 29, 2014 at 11:05 am
2-hand that beast, Woolie! SMASH!!!
August 29, 2014 at 11:22 am
You don’t need defense when your enemy is DEAD.
August 29, 2014 at 11:57 am
I don’t think I have Cheered on Woolie harder
August 29, 2014 at 12:00 pm
Mmmm..mmmmm too much salt for me today
August 29, 2014 at 12:01 pm
Pat needs to get gud at empathy, jesus christ.
August 29, 2014 at 12:30 pm
Poor babby woolie…
August 29, 2014 at 1:01 pm
I can understand why people are saying Pat was kind of an ass in this video, but I can kind of understand where pat’s coming from. Even if it’s not what he meant, it kind of sounded like Woolie was saying at the later end of the game pat was on his own for commentary. That’s kind of messed up considering he suggested the LP. It may not have been what Woolie meant, but it sounded like it.
August 29, 2014 at 1:25 pm
Recent podcasts are the only proof I have that one of them isn’t dead after this video.
August 29, 2014 at 3:56 pm
He says he is gonna slow down to a snails pace when he is coming up on an area he doesn’t know, makes me think he never played the game since that’s how he did the whole play through.
August 29, 2014 at 4:40 pm
Have Woolie just get soaked in that water. Sure you’re wasting a lock stone but it helped me!
August 29, 2014 at 6:16 pm
So begins the Smelter Dance? more like Begins “The Safety dance”
August 29, 2014 at 8:33 pm
Pat, HELP Woolie, don’t point and laugh at him. This is your build idea, after all.
Also, don’t emphasize armor so much. Woolsworth 3.0 is too young to be worrying about Fashion Souls. Armor makes very little difference in this game. If Woolie wants to survive taking damage, tell him to invest in his HP instead.
Let him carry his mace in another slot instead. Take some armor off if you have to. The ability to switch to strike damage and a different moveset will serve him much better than armor at this stage.
And for Pete’s sake, two-hand that greatsword more! Wean Woolie off of relying on his shield too much. This is coming from a guy whose first build revolved around being able to use Havel’s Greatshield without a fat roll!
That may be an idea, too. Woolie, greatshields not only have more stability (i.e. drain less stamina with each blow received) than regular shields, but they also make many enemies’ weapons bounce when you block with them. If you like to block and counter, don’t neglect greatshields!
August 30, 2014 at 12:06 pm
Woolie – constantly expanding to take up all the leeway until there is no room left in Pat’s OCD-riddled heart for more.
August 30, 2014 at 1:10 pm
Calm the hell down Woolie jesus. There’s so much salt in this video I almost choked on it. Quit being a baby.
August 30, 2014 at 6:47 pm
I think worse than pats coaching are some of the info he’s giving to woolie. For instance, ranged options are not shit, just faith. Other forms of magic and projectiles are fine. His insisting on unequipping everything also seems a little foolish. Having to reequip that crossbow every few minutes sucks
August 30, 2014 at 11:39 pm
2:04 Oh Pat you patronizing fuck. XD
September 1, 2014 at 2:23 am
Pat sounds like such a philosopher sometimes.
September 6, 2014 at 12:37 am
The salt is thick
November 12, 2014 at 8:29 pm
Want some cheese with that whine, Woolie?
