Nice user name. I just finished Steel Ball Run about a month ago.
August 14, 2014 at 12:26 am
The more users with JoJo names, the better. 🙂
Plus, it was the Zaibatsu that got me hooked on JJBA in the first place.
August 14, 2014 at 8:17 pm
Funny Valentine, where did you start with Jojo? I have no idea where to begin!
August 14, 2014 at 9:06 pm
@Amory: I suggest starting with Phantom Blood and working your way forward in order. That’s what I did, and besides the obvious benefits of working through the timeline in order, there is the added bonus of catching all the references/allusions to previous chapters (some of which may not be obvious to a reader who is perusing the arcs out of order).

August 13, 2014 at 10:59 pm
Right when I finish the previous part? Perfect.
August 13, 2014 at 10:20 pm
This series is like crack for me. I love it too much
When this first started I posted a comment on youtube about how Pat should be some kind of magic book or pendant, giving the adventurer Woolsworth advice… but I didn’t know what kind of magical item he should be.
Now we know… he should be a Zelda fairy following Woolsworth around.
August 13, 2014 at 10:22 pm
He should be Puck. Woolie loves Puck.
August 13, 2014 at 10:33 pm
Just with Pat’s face.
You do realize we’ve just imagined a tiny naked Pat flying around Woolie dressed as a mage, right?
August 13, 2014 at 10:21 pm
It cuts off early
August 13, 2014 at 10:52 pm
Yeah that was a pretty strange place to cut off at.
August 13, 2014 at 10:23 pm
This is a very short video….. wtf???
August 14, 2014 at 12:17 am
There’s a malfunction with the site. The full video is about a 30 minutes.
August 13, 2014 at 10:26 pm
Man, I wonder what it is about the site that causes recordings to fuck up like this.
August 13, 2014 at 10:34 pm
was the video cut short?
August 13, 2014 at 10:35 pm
Its not working, this is like the fifth video that does this.
The episode cuts off around 12 minutes. If you want to see the rest head here to watch the rest:
August 14, 2014 at 12:52 am
But that’s youtube…
August 13, 2014 at 10:36 pm
Whats wrong with the episode? did it just get cut off during upload or something?
August 13, 2014 at 10:42 pm
But… But Pat, I actually love your commentary! You’re constant coaching makes this awesome to listen to.
August 13, 2014 at 10:45 pm
I wish that if the Chosen Undead from Dark Souls really was in the basement, that he or she would be exactly like they were from the previous game, and you’d have to fight them for all the souls that you had when you last played them.
It would not be fun to fight a fully upgraded Pyromancer with +10 Black Iron Armor and matching +10 Greatshield that has a +10 Zweihander. But it would be a great fight nonetheless.
That would be the height of importing characters into a game.
P.S. Pyromancy doesn’t scale with Faith, you guys were staring at Lightning.
August 13, 2014 at 11:03 pm
Pyromancy doesn’t scale with any stat but can be improved by fire damage scaling which is a mix of faith and intelligence if I remember correctly.
August 14, 2014 at 12:33 am
I’m pretty sure Pyromancy scales with either Faith and/or Int. So pretty much any spell user should use Pyromancy
August 13, 2014 at 11:06 pm
I’m having a hard time remembering any difficult jumps in Dark Souls 1 besides the Bed of Chaos boss fight, which had nothing to do with controls and more to do with getting smacked by a tree branch right before you jump. I found the Dark Souls 2 jumps to be more difficult.
August 13, 2014 at 11:42 pm
Pat never saw Blazing Saddles before? I am disappoint
August 13, 2014 at 11:43 pm
Pyromancy and Fire elemental items scale with Intelligence and Faith, capping at 60 combined between the two. Hexes and Dark elemental items work the same way, the only difference being that Hexes have an Intelligence and Faith requirement to use. If you guys want to do Pyromancy with a side of Miracles, hit 56 Faith, as Clerics have 4 Intelligence, and you will have max power Pyomancy, all the while having access to powerful Miracles with the Dragon Chime.
August 13, 2014 at 11:45 pm
That item you guys were wondering about is a Bonfire Ascetic which I always find helpful if you want to get some pretty great items without having to go into NG+ like the Moonlight Greatsword or Crypt Blacksword, which by the way has become my favorite freaking weapon in the entire game.
August 14, 2014 at 12:32 am
You can get some really OP shit using Bonfire Ascetics.
August 13, 2014 at 11:46 pm
Drop your god damn fucking shield.
August 14, 2014 at 12:30 am
We better get a P.T. video soon. Please god, don’t put in the vault until the Shitstorm.
August 14, 2014 at 12:51 am
Just respec as a pyromancer you guys, pyromancy is the shit. Praise the forbidden sun!
August 14, 2014 at 12:54 am
Time for my daily dose of Woolie’s salt. Really helps me with my sodium intake.
August 14, 2014 at 1:17 am
Pat, you watched Blazing Saddles for the first time, better late than never.
Please tell me it wasn’t a TV edit.
August 14, 2014 at 1:35 am
Those first twenty seconds are GOLD.
Also, with the occasional fear creaking of the PS3 controller being choked to death, it kind of sounds like they’re recording from inside a pirate ship.
Woolies getting good
August 14, 2014 at 2:31 am
I’m having probs with the site. This video says “Error loading stream: Manifest not found or invalid”.
what does that mean?
August 14, 2014 at 3:38 am
Pat, can you make a mod for Dark Souls where you have a fairy follow you around and say your things?
August 14, 2014 at 3:58 am
“Elevators in the earlier games were scarier”. In Demon’s, yeah. But Dark 1’s elevators were all incredibly straightforward. You’re just intentionally painting with a really broad brush here to make 2 seem even shittier than it is. Sorry, but I’m just getting really tired of people talking so much nitpicky shit about 2. People are just trying so hard to find flaws and be down on the game, even though it’s still a very good game. Well yeah, it’s the weakest of this series of games. So what? Those games are among the best games ever made. It’s like trying to tell others they can’t ever possibly enjoy Aria of Sorrow because Symphony of the Night exists.
August 14, 2014 at 5:34 am
Everyone was saying hey Woolie get good and guess what Woolie did he fucking got good!
August 14, 2014 at 5:39 am
August 14, 2014 at 6:02 am
Good improvement Woolie! Hey Pat why don’t you teach Woolie how to parry? ahah just kidding.
August 14, 2014 at 6:06 am
Pat, you don’t have to stop telling Woolie to drop his shield. Personaly I think it’s perfect. You know what I mean?
August 14, 2014 at 8:47 am
Pat caught on the joke!
August 14, 2014 at 9:05 am
Why the hesitation to use boss souls? The boss soul weapons most of those give are definitely not gonna be used in this play through, especially with this build. I wanna see that drangleic shield in use damnit!!
August 14, 2014 at 10:06 am
So I just got Dark Souls 2 yesterday and made my character a cleric before I saw this video.. I’ve just got my lighting spears to find out they don’t really do any damage anymore.. nor does the heides knight sword.
So I was wondering what people think I should do, Should I respec? or what? :/
August 14, 2014 at 11:01 am
You can go with a Dark build. You just have to level intelligence alongside faith and keep them on a somewhat equal level. It takes a while to get going in the beginning, because you’re stretching yourself pretty thin, but after that it becomes pretty much the strongest and cheesiest build in the game.
August 14, 2014 at 1:06 pm
Another option is to invest more into melee at the beginning and work on faith once you feel comfortable with your melee stats. I ran a strength build with faith as my secondary because of how many later bosses are week to lightening. Lightening is still good you just have less of it, so can’t kill as many bosses with lightening alone but you can still kill a good chunk of their health. Good news, the patch improved the Greatsword (now S str bonus when at +10), which is the sword they mentioned they are going to be using later on. It only requires 28 str and 10 dex, is at no mans or can buy it in the shaded woods. The swing is a little slow but does amazing damage and pretty good at crowd clearing. In my opinion much better than heides knight sword, but that depends more on your play style.

“Error Loading Screen: Manifest not found or invalid”
good job, Pat!
August 14, 2014 at 2:15 pm
I got a weird error when I tried to load the vid, Anybody else got this problem?
August 14, 2014 at 3:26 pm
please letsplay asuras wrath
August 14, 2014 at 4:01 pm
Great to see you improving so much Woolie! And you too Pat. The episode’s much more interesting to watch when you’re talking about lore and such. THAT’S what I wanna hear!
August 14, 2014 at 5:35 pm
Destiny is destiny
August 14, 2014 at 8:44 pm
Patt, something you should know that I’m surprised you didn’t know already. notice how in the stats screen, under where it says “Physical defense” and shit. under it around the middle should be attack ratings for Magic, Fire, Lightning, and Dark. this is different to DkSs 1, as instead of things scaling with the stats themselves, they scale with stats that scale with stats. Magic scales with Int, Lightning scales with Faith. Fire and Dark scale with both. Dark much more strongly than Fire. now, if you remember in DkSs 1, the Pyromancy Flame scaled with Int. in this game, it technically scales not with Int OR Faith, but fire. also, it’s very easy to tell that you fucked up, and read the scale sign to the right of the scaling rating, rather than the one to the left. also, it’s very good for any build to work on pyromancy, and I think it would be pretty Nito to see a cleric with less of a focus on lightning and faith, and more of a straightforward focus on Light. hope this was helpful, and good luck with the playthrough!… my this was fucking long.
August 14, 2014 at 9:50 pm
Guys, you had the cursor on lightning damage when you were talking about switching to pyromancy. Fire scales with faith AND intelligence, like hex damage does. Not trying to be a jerk, but you were both lookin’ at it and it said “lightning” twice I’mjustsayin’. Laughing with you, not at you.
Regarding invasions, I don’t mean to disagree with you, Pat, but I believe I heard that the living are invaded less than hollows, at least according to the wiki. Maybe I have old info.
Also, the enemy arrow tracking was in DS1 also. You can see it at the very beginning, when you come to the open air staircase with the archer at the end. His arrows will zigzag toward your face. I can’t remember if that would happen in Demon’s Souls, though.
August 14, 2014 at 9:51 pm
“It scales with Faith!”
No it doesn’t that “A” was next to FIRE!!!
August 15, 2014 at 12:07 am
Pat I’m very surprised that you don’t know this! After you kill an enemy 15 times it will no longer respawn. This is how you make Straid safe, the spawn for the lost sinner safe, and the path to the ancient dragon safe.
