The most recent arc of Steven Universe was pretty much about how friends and loved ones are important, but don’t rely on their validation for self-worth. While the show isn’t explicitly about the “power of friendship” it is an important part of the character dynamic, and it puts interesting twists on the trope.

I have to say guys, shitting on the plot when you’re not really paying atention to it…kinda shitty. I really liked the plot. But hey everyone’s entitled to their opinion.
However, I have to agree that I’m sick of “the power of friendship” and wouldn’t mind a story that does the oposite.
